Hey there ...
Just thought I would pass along another fun little distraction ... I know ... as if we need anymore ??
This service is starting to get a lot of buzz and I decided to try it out and can't seem to get away from it now.
What is it ???
Leo Leporte (of Tech TV fame) calls it "An away message for grown-ups"
I'm using it as a way for my members to see what it is I do all day sitting at my computer ... :D
If you're curious ... go take a look at my Twitter page.

That this becomes another incredibly popular website. It has all of the earmarks...
sort of a cool name
fairly easy to remember
seems fairly simple
the price is right
Thanks Scott!

But I'm not sure that I want to get that naked for people.
Looks like John Edwards is doing it.
I'm trying to figure out how to turn something like this into $ but I'm not seeing it.
Maybe I'll poke around there some more.

Welcome to Twitter Jim ...
Monitization?
Hmmmm ... I'm thinking affiliate links ... you can place URL's in your box of what you're doing ... My idea so far is when I see a great website or even a wholesale source when I cam doing research I can post the link.
So I imaging it could work for affiliate links I guess, especially if you get really popular and people want to know what sites you have been to.
I know Leo has the most followers and even Robert Scoble is using it ... LOL
It's addicting too ... Scott

Among other things.... I'm interested in it's utility in SEO.
A while back, on a bet, I wrote an ebook, put up a web page and started selling it. Have had amazing sales. Who would have thought...
My web page never managed to rank at all on Google and was mediocre on the other major SE's. One of the problem was that it was VERY static and only had one page. I recently added a handful of pages.... and make periodic changes to the page. After a few weeks I noticed that I was at Google Page Rank 2 (had been 0) and I can now find myself in the result.... page 8 I think.
I'm going to hold all else constant and experiment with Twitter to see if I generate any additional "ranking".
Wish me luck!

Sounds great Chris ...
Something I learned is to search around on Twitter for names you may recognize and follow them. Everytime they update their Twitter page it will show in your updates.
This also helps others find you if that is what you want.
I had the same thought as Jim did regarding everyone knowing what I am doing ... but you are in charge of what you place in your updates, so you can tell the world as much or little as you like.
I have my Twitter set to notify me through YIM, and there is the option to activate your cell phone where it will send you text messages and allow you to update Twitter via SMS (text messaging) ... I'm not ready for that much involvement, but I have seen many people who are well known (such as Robert Scoble) using it when they are not at their computer to keep in touch with all their friends and followers.
It does remind me of the social aspect of MySpace but without all the baggage that comes with MySpace.
It will be very interesting to see how this develops, and according to an email just sent out by the creator (the same guy responsible for Blogger, and Odeo) Twitter is about to celebrate it's first birthday (he's counting from the formation of the idea and not the actual implementation)
