I once heard of a lady buying items from department stores and selling on ebay. I don't know what she sold. What items would you think she could have bought and made money. I don't see how.

Believe it or not if you follow eBay trends enough you can sometimes see products that are "in demand" and are selling for full retail or above. Find one of these at a local retail establishment on sale and there you have it - profit.
It is simply a matter of making sure that the profit margin is high enough.
I went to a local Target because I knew that they had some DVD movies on sale for $3.99 new and sealed. While I did not know what movies they might have I figured that since I was going shopping there anyway it might be worth a look.
Well low and behold they had a couple of full sets of some popular sitcoms. And the price was awesome so I bought them.
In the end I made $40 on one set and $30 on the other. $70 for about 20 minutes of work. Not too bad if you ask me.
But...
I did my homework and knew that DVDs were selling well and I knew how much they were selling for.
I got lucky because these sets happened to be popular and I was the only one selling the whole set of those shows.
I managed to be in the right place at the right time.
Can it be done, Joe? Yup, but it isn't easy and in my humble it would probably be easier to actually lose money as opposed to making any.
Hopefully some others will also pipe in on this one. It has the makings of a good thread.

The way most of the "fashion chains" run promotions, there are many ebay sellers who simply keep an eye out for specials, closeouts, etc. and rush to their nearest GAP, A&F, etc. store the minute the deals are there.
Those retailers pretty much stay a season ahead and have current season goods marked way down or closed out while still within the season, so you can get current (but not red hot) goods at great prices.
On one forum I know of a lady who claims to have a number of local store managers call her the day they get the word of closeouts and she goes and buys the lot. This gives the managers a good day and eliminates odds and ends floating around for the manager. Win - win.

Is there a way to tell if a person has sold stuff in the past and how much he received on ebay.
