Hey All,

As many of you know, since 2002 I have been in pursuit of my higher education. This evening I received my final grade and have now earned my BS. I still cannot believe it when I type it.

I just had to share this with you all.

I cannot believe how many changes I am going through right now. (First the confirmation that I am starting at UM and now I finished my college undergrad)

The answer to the question most asked thus far:

"Are you going back for your Masters?"

And the answer is...

Perhaps. Probably yes, eventually, since as a full time employee of UM I receive guaranteed admission and free tuition, books, and lab fees. I am seriously thinking about going for an MBA or perhaps a Masters in Public Administration.

But for now I am taking a study break. My 4 year degree was the best 5 years of my life. : ) To be honest my next goal is to be published in some of the EMS and Fire Trade Magazines. And now I will have the time to do so. For the time being I just don't have it in me to continue in classes. I NEED a break, it isn't just a matter of wanting one.

Picture this:

Beer in one hand and remote in the other. PC only on in order to check email and this board. Quick peek at eBay ads. Shut it down and watch a little tube.

Now you know what I will be up to in my time off.

Take care all as usual,
Jim Wilson

A BS in Business and been a CPA since the 1980's and Have an MBA. You only learn to work for someone in school not to be on your own, unless you take a course in something like I did and use it to go into business. But I worked for many people before I did that. I worked for The IRS, for 15 years taught for about 7 years. Was in self employment when I taught starting in 1992, because of an Angel investor I found.

Congratulations, Jim. I graduated from high school back in 1976 (yes, the Earth's crust was cool back then!), took my first college course in 1981, and finally completed my degree in 2003.

I think you're wise in not wanting to pursue a Master's degree right away. I was going to start work on mine back in 2005, took one course, realized that I was tired of studying, and didn't finish pursuing it. Hopefully I won't need it...!

Best regards,
Tom

Hey Tom,

I don't know if and/or when I might return once again to classes. It seems so close and yet so far away regarding the amount of work it would take. But who knows. If you had asked me about 5 years ago, "Hey Jim, you ever going to go back to school and get your BS?" I would have likely told you that I did not need it, had no intention of going back and working that hard for something I don't really need, and not to hold your breath.

It is truly amazing sometimes just how life's twist and turns end up changing our outlooks on things.

Thanks for your kind words, Tom. And Happy Birthday!

Jim
