Hey Everyone,
As I clean up AuctionHints (which also means cleaning up the server a bit) I located some old affiliate links that I used to market.
Some of the ones that were pushed the hardest and that were supposed to lead to guaranteed riches....have now failed and closed down.
One of the most visible ones was AuctionDiner.com. The domain is now for sale. Guess this proves something I have been saying all along. eBay has a nice little niche' and anyone who is going to compete with them has an uphill battle to face, both ways, and there is snow and ice on the ground.
There are many others that I was checking out the affiliate links only to find that the websites were dead. Some involved services, some involved helping others write better ads, some involved better payment methods that would compete with Paypal, and some involved helping sellers gather info that would increase sales.
It never ceases to amaze me how many people come online with big dreams and a mediocre business plan that is centered on taking on a well-established online business entity.
Does anyone else know (or remember) any online businesses that came in with a storm and went out with a whimper? I think it is interesting to learn from the business mistakes of others and besides it is like a trip down memory lane.
