View Full Version : Interesting stats thus far...

It has been about a week since this new board officially got up and running. There has been a little of a learning curve and there have been a couple of bumps but I am amazed at some of the new stats since the new board came online.

In the first place the new board is much more powerful when it comes to blocking people who would otherwise come here simply to post garbage like the old "Paypal can make you rich" scam.

The board also makes it simple to let people know that they violated the board's really simple rules. Because people have to register in order to post they have to provide a legit email. And when they get popped for breaking a rule they are notified automatically behind the scenes by the board's software. One guy had the nerve to actually email me and tell me that I had no right to remove his post. (uh huh, sure buddy)

And finally there is the incredible option of adding or taking away the main threads - the real "life" of the board. As people contact me and make suggestions for what threads they would like to see I take each into consideration and have added a couple so far in order to enhance the board's stickiness.

So, does Jim Wilson miss the old board? Sure, in a way I always will because it was where AuctionHints actually got its real start. And it definitely served a purpose. But I feel that this new board represents the future of AuctionHints and thus far I have to admit that I am impressed.

Visitation to the board is up as is to the home page.

Adsense revenue is up.

Post are about the same thus far but I am working on some changes that will make people who are simply coming in and reading feel more comfortable actually registering and posting. (right now for everyone who does register there are 4 or 5 who simply stop in and lurk)

And people are actually emailing me telling me that the change was a good one.

Thanks, Dien, (from http://sowpub.com) for setting such a nice example. (He changed over to this board and, after some testing, I also saw the potential of making such a change)

And thanks to all of you for making the first week of the new board quite a nice one. :)

Take care all as usual,
Jim Wilson
