View Full Version : Wholesalers in Australia?

Hi, I'm brand new to this, but having sold a few of my personal possessions successfully on eBay recently I am considering starting business. I have a lot of time because I am unemployed presently.
I have perused this forum and can see the advantages of ordering and reading through the ebooks before starting, but those books are from the USA, I believe, and so the one that lists wholesalers would be irrelevant for me since I live in Australia. It seems to me that one of the first things a new ebay seller would need to do (after deciding on which products he/she wants to sell) is to find a good wholesaler.
So can I ask how one can source wholesale providers/dropshippers in Australia? I have no idea where to begin, and all the ebay tips in the world won't help me start if I can't get a supplier. Are there national lists available or something?
Thanks.

I have just a couple of small comments. =)
Instead of this thinking:
"deciding on which products I want to sell"
you might be better off with this thinking
"deciding on which products people want to buy"
As far as finding a source in Austrailia, I'm sorry, I cannot help on that one.
However, the eBooks to which you might be referring to, should be ones that teach generalizations, techniques and marketing ideas....
The eBooks that have "wholesale sources/lists", you may want to stay away from anyway, no matter what country they are for.

Thanks for that, Natalie.
So how does a novice like myself begin then? I have absolutely no buying contacts.

First and foremost WELCOME! You came to the right place to at least get a little tight advice on this subject.
Now then...
A friend of mine online, a gentleman by the name of John Reese of AuctionSecrets.com fame, actually picked up and moved to your neck of the woods. A start might be to attempt to contact him via the Anthony Blake forum. (http//ablake.net/forum)
In addition there is the Worldwide Brands by Chris Malta. I believe that their dropship directory actually crosses all international boundaries. Chris actually comes here every now and then and if you were to post a question directly addressed to him you can almost be assured he will come in a reply.
Once again welcome. Just keep reading and learning. eBay's success stories also are international. Here's hoping you're their next success story from Aussie!
Take care all as usual,
Jim Wilson

Thanks, Jim!
I shall contact A Blake.
Meanwhile how best to leave a message here for Chris Malta in order to get his attention?

The best way would be to post a message and use his name in the subject line. I believe he is here quite often and he would see your message and he's pretty good about answering.
Meanwhile, I would still be selling whatever you could from around your house to keep getting eBay experience and to help build up your feedback.
