Hi everyone

First, Jim, let me say I love the new board. I finally registered so will post more often.

I had someone contact me a few weeks ago wanting me to list a Frodo Baggins figurine on eBay for them. I wasn't that keen as I haven't sold anything on consignment before, but thought I'd give it a try.

The owner wanted me to put a large starting price or reserve on it and I eventually managed to talk her into a low start price and a low reserve.

So I set about listing it two days ago, used turbolister as usual, and I couldn't find a box for a reserve price. In the end, I decided to upload the auctions and go in and add a reserve price once they were loaded. That's what I did, and I believed I had successfully added a reserve price within a minute or so of the auction being uploaded.

After the changes I re-checked the auction listing and was horrified to find that a bid was placed (for $1) and that there was no reserve price on the auction. I felt sick. So I hastily emailed the figurine's owner and suggested I stop the auction, apologise to the bidder and start again (at my expense and reputation). Well it turned out I must have done a good sell on the owner as she said, no, let's see how it runs. I was having nightmares about this piece selling for a really low price, and the owner deciding she didn't want to let it go.

Well, someone was looking after me as I now see it has already passed what I had planned for the reserve price, and the auction still has 5 days to run. It seems I'll sleep tonight after all.

If this is what consignment selling is normally like, I think I'll leave it out! My heart can't stand it.

Now, must go back to work before Natalie tells me off :p

Cheers, Erin the Faint-Hearted!
