In a full eBay transactions, there are several responsibilities and steps each side should complete and be judged upon. Payment is not the ONLY thing that a buyer is judged on.
Who cares if the buyer pays if he is a complete jerk afterwards? What if a seller bends over backwards to do whatever the buyer wants and then is given a negative anyway. Sellers have very few options when choosing the bidders on their auctions. Buyers can roam around and choose whatever seller they want, but as a seller, we have to accept anyone who comes along, unless we fly like a hawk over the top of our auctions watching for bad feedback and cancelling bids.
If the item arrived in a manner that the buyer is unhappy about, they should contact the seller about a resolution.
If we, as sellers, leave feedback based SOLELY upon if the person paid or not, we would be leaving out comments on other more important aspects of the buyers actions and worthiness.
Like how they acted after we shipped and after they received the item.
As a seller, if I look at a potential buyers' feedback, do I want to just see
"Positive: Buyer paid quickly"
or would I prefer to see the truth of
"Neutral: Buyer paid quickly, but wasn't happy and left negative feedback without contacting me"
I prefer to see #2 because that shows me this buyer will be trouble and will shoot from the hip and I can avoid him. And the only way for me to read that about the buyer is for the seller to wait to leave feedback.
I want to know about the WHOLE transaction, not just if the buyer paid or not. Who cares... if my buyer doesn't pay, I don't ship so it's no big loss. I want to know how they were during the whole shebang.
So please, sellers... keep waiting to leave feedback until it'a all over =)
