New to auctions...many questions

My main questions are about pricing and shipping.

One item I have is a pair of Victoria's Secret cotton long pajamas that I received for Christmas, new with tags. They are too big and when I went to the mall to exchange them for something else they told me they were on sale and without a receipt they could only give me the sale price...$12. The original retail was at least $50. I am hoping I can sell them on an auction site for more than a measly $12. So I have been doing some research.

I looked up other auctions on Ebay for Victoria's Secret and the prices are so low! Like $9.99. And some of them do not have any bids or only 1 bid for $9.99. Well, I don't want to end up selling them that cheap. Why are there prices like that? I see it on other items as well. The price is much less than what I want to receive. But I guess that is the appeal of auctions. I guess I could set a reserve. Is that the way to go? I know there are pricing strategies. Any input on pricing strategies is appreciated.

Also shipping. Whenever I have ordered pantyhose or clothing items through mail order they usually come in a heavy plastic bag/envelope. Is that the way to go with shipping and where do I get supplies.

Postage...do I only charge actual postage or do I charge more? If I add a handling charge for having to physically go to the post office how much is reasonable. I wouldn't want the postage fees to scare off bidders.

Last, but not least and then I'll end this long barrage of questions. I live in a large city and there are several designer outlet stores. Talbot's, in particular. They have low prices and several times a year big 1/2 price sales on items that are already marked low. But once again, when I searched Talbot's items on Ebay the prices were very low. And...if I have an item with tags do I/should I cut the price off so the buyer would not know how much I actually paid? I was thinking I could earn a little $ from these items but now I'm not sure. All the prices on Ebay just seem too low for me.

Well, that's all the space I'll take up. Any other info you can offer would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Missy
