In Response To: Anyone Got Any Good Cost Cutting Tips? (Torrey)
1. Ship using USPS Priority Mail and get the shipping products free of charge. Since the customer pays for the shipping anyway it does not cost extra to get the product there faster.
2. Buy in larger numbers whenever you can. Seems like no matter what you are buying, the more of it that you buy the more you save.
3. Closely monitor who paid for their items and who didn't. Then, if they don't pay, make certain to file for a non-payment refund from EBay. I usually allow like 10 days and if I don't hear from them in that time I email them once more. No reply starts the ball rolling to get the refund.
4. Time, the ultimate wasted resource, should also be closely monitored. Make sure that you have "to do" list all set up and follow them. The saying "Time Is Money" applies.
5. Make sure that whatever you post at auction is placed into the most effective location on EBay and that you don't buy options for the ads that really don't make that much of a difference in the response. Some people swear by "BOLD" and yet I have yet to see any difference when I used it as opposed to when I did not.
6. Don't buy unnecessary things for your business. For example there are many auction sellers who believe that they must have auction management tools in order to really make a go of it. Proper time management and scheduling of ads will lead to the same results and won't cost you anything. And, to top this, there are actually lots of free software titles out there that will do about the same thing in regard to management of your auctions/ads.
Great question Torrey. I will be checking back myself to see what other ideas others might have.
Thanks,
Jim
