Question regarding buying source.
Posted By: Christine Date: Friday, 26 April 2002, at 11:48 p.m.
I need some advise from seasoned sellers. While doing my yardselling to come across sellable items, I met a very nice man who had a few valuable NEW items for sale for a great price. I discussed his awesome source with him and informed him of my desire to become more active with online auctions. The end result and my question is this: He basically can get me discontinued and clearance items from a warehouse sale of a major manufacturer. He is going to call me (hopefully) when the next sale is going to occur.
When I checked into the items that I had bought from him I found they were not packaged as labeled meaning they are 'seconds'(?). An example is a set of knives that contained an extra steak knife in place of a paring knife. I still got an INCREDIBLE price for this item and it would still be a great deal for an ebay buyer. So, if I describe the variance in my ad do you think people are still likely to buy if they are name brand/very quality items? I hate to buy in bulk to find out that people will only buy what they would get from a retail store (retail, of course, costing much more).
Thank you for your time and advise. And, thank you, Jim, for this wonderful site that I just came across and completely read through.
